How to change personality and networking skills so that I get a job?

I graduated from a top 50 chemical engineering program with honors and yet I am the only one in the class (except for those who go to graduate school immediately) who hasn't got a job yet. I have as many as 20-30 phone/first round interviews and 4 on-site interviews over the past 18 months yet got all rejected.

I guess I am going back to school since I am more interested in R%26amp;D and has given up on job searching. In the summer that I was supposed to do an internship, I got sick and couldn't do one, so I didn't have network connections. Many said that my personality is strange (shy and weird) and that could be the case. Even my advisor gave the prospective employer bad references, so it didn't go my way. I still believe that my interview skills are not bad since I read and practice a lot.

I am going back to school in the Fall and I sincerely won't want this to happen again in next 4-5 years. Therefore any tips on changing personality and networking skills would be appreciated. How to change personality and networking skills so that I get a job?
I suggest you get in some group therapy as that way you get feedback about how you come across to others. You also need to find a professor who will give you a good reference and ask him for help with networking. How to change personality and networking skills so that I get a job?

Well, you may not be able to change the past but you can work towards the future.. in order to network with others you need to speak up and be heard... If you are going to be in more classes dont be the person in the back of the class doing nothing.. And what about those who you graduated with.. Those would be great contacts as well plus give you insider information on hiring... I don't understand the weird part, so I can't answer that well.. You may practice alot but you need someone else to be judgemental about your speaking and body language because what you interpret as okay may be like I am downer to others...
I would like to invite you to join the yahoo group twincitiesnetworking. Its a new group with about 60 members from a variety of back grounds. Career coach's, consultants, and others. We are in the process of planning our first gathering. You will be able to build some friendships while your going to school and who knows. Check it out if you have the chance.
